The Project Open Sky Boeing 777-300 V2 range is officially released in time for Christmas with my TAM Boeing 777-300ER livery. The Boeing 777-300ER is new to the TAM fleet and of course these mighty aircraft utilise the immensely powerful General Electric 90-115B engines. Custom textures have been used where necessary which includes dirt, shadow and reflection effects as well as new night lighting textures. The blurred fan textures are have a moderate degree of transparency. Following this release the virtual cockpit model addon made by Jacob Kubique has also been released.

Following the release of the beautiful Project Open Sky Boeing 777-200 V2 range I decided to paint both the old and new colours for the Kenya Airways Boeing 777-200ER. Custom textures have been used where necessary which includes dirt, shadow and reflection effects as well as new night lighting textures. The blurred fan textures are have a moderate degree of transparency. Included in this release is the truly amazing virtual cockpit made by Jacob Kubique.

Continuing on from my previous Boeing 747 liveries I am pleased to present my South African Airways Boeing 747-300 OC and NC liveries. These liveries include ZS-SAU "Cape Town" and ZS-SAT "Johannesburg" as they appeared in 2004 wearing the new colours just before being retired. Around about 2001 South African Airways and Nigeria Airways operated ZS-SAU "Cape Town" in a joint partnership which is also included in this package. The old colours are included in this package and are also represented by ZS-SAU "Cape Town" as she appeared in the 1980's and then in the 1990's wearing the old and then newer Springbok colours. These are painted on Project Open Sky's Boeing 747-300 V4 models and have been carefully painted to achieve the maximum degree of accuracy and visual enhancements possible in Flightsim. The blurred fan textures are custom made and have a moderate degree of transparency. The night lighting textures are also custom made for each livery and have a new splash textured along with slightly altered lights section to enhance this. Custom dirt and shading is also utilised.

As part of my Boeing 747-400 liveries I have now finalised and released my Air Namibia V5-NMA livery painted on Project Open Sky's new Boeing 747-400 V4 model. This livery benefits from the same texture effects and more, as seen in my Boeing other 747-400 and 747-200 liveries.

Monday 4 August 2008

Congratulations to Project Open Sky and their Boeing 777-200 V2 release! Well done to Hiroshi and everyone in the team! And let's not forget Jacob Kubique for his truly amazing Virtual Cockpit, really amazing for freeware! Congratulations also to AFG - Allied FS Group for their much anticipated Sud Aviation Caravelle release!

Wednesday 30 July 2008

Following the release of my South African Airways Boeing 747-400 liveries I have been busy working on the entire range of liveries for the South African Airways 747-200 fleet. These are painted on Project Open Sky's Boeing 747-200 V4 models and benefit from the same texture effects and more, as seen in my Boeing 747-400 liveries. These liveries stretch from the early 1970's until late 2003 when this fleet was retired. The 1970's "Bandit" livery is represented by ZS-SAO "Magaliesberg", the 1980's and then 1990's "Springbok" liveries are represented by ZS-SAN "Lebombo" which then also represents the 2000's to 2003 new colours. In early 2004 ZS-SAN "Lebombo" landed at Rand Airport to become part of the South African Airways Museum Society displays, so this livery is included wearing the SAAMS logo. I have also included ZS-SAM "Drakensberg" as she appeared in the late 1980's wearing a "rushed" into service non-standard livery after she had just been returned from lease to Varig as PP-VNWSouth African Airways also operated the Boeing 747-200 Combi but tragically on November 28, 1987, South African Airways ZS-SAS "Helderberg" Flight 295 developed an on-board fire in the main deck cargo area and crashed into the Indian Ocean. All 140 passengers and 19 crew on board were lost. I have painted both ZS-SAS "Helderberg" and ZS-SAR "Waterberg" as they appeared in the 1980's. After this tragedy South African Airways operated ZS-SAR "Waterberg" as a freighter until the early 2000's. Both the old and new colours are represented. Since this is a large list of liveries they have been released in four parts on Avsim.com and Project Open Sky's downloads section. This entire set of liveries has been painted in memory of the Helderberg disaster and the terrible loss of life.

Thursday 5 June 2008

I am pleased to announce the release of my South African Airways Boeing 747-400 liveries painted on Project Open Sky's new Boeing 747-400 V4 models. In total there are 5 liveries released in three packages with the first being ZS-SAV "Durban" and ZS-SAX "Kemptonpark" wearing the new colours, the second being ZS-SAV "Durban" and ZS-SAX "Kemptonpark" wearing the old "Springbok" colours, and the last being ZS-SBK "The Great North" wearing the new colours. These textures have been carefully painted to achieve the maximum degree of accuracy and visual enhancements possible in Flightsim. The blurred fan textures are custom made and have a moderate degree of transparency. The night lighting textures are also custom made for each livery and have a new splash textured along with slightly altered lights section to enhance this. Custom dirt and shading is also utilised.

Monday 2 June 2008

After a few months of being offline due to service failure on the part my previous ISP who had been taken over by a different company my site is re-launched with a new hosting company and a new domain. Time permitting I am intending to freshen up the site since it has not changed all that much since the original launch back in 2003.

Monday 21 January 2008

I am happy to announce that I have released four repaints of South African Airlink Embraer ERJ 135LR painted on the newly released Project Open Sky package. The first is ZS-OTN wearing the older livery scheme with the other three being ZS-OUV wearing the various livery schemes over the last few years. View announcement post on Project Open Sky's Forum for preview screenshots.

Monday 5 November 2007

I am very honored and privileged to announce that I have joined Project Open Sky as a member painter and look forward to contributing to their many wonderful current and future projects. My work on other projects including Contrail-Designs and Historic Jetliners will continue as normal with careful management of time. The same goes for my other miscellaneous projects. Thank you to all the Project Open Sky members and forum users for welcoming me to the team.

Monday 24 September 2007

With so many projects still being worked on I decided I had to finish off a few that have been gathering dust and get them released. So I present to you three repaints once again on Erick Cantu's wonderful Boeing 737-200. They are as follows, Air Tanzania, South African Airlink and South African Cargo. The South African Cargo is actually three liveries, ZS-SID and ZS-SIF as they appeared up until a few years showing a fair degree of weathering and dirt, and then ZS-SIF as she appears now more recently after receiving a new coat of paint. I am currently working on a series of repaints on Erick Cantu's VistaLiners Boeing 737-3/4/500 series and have previewed some screenshots in the last couple of months on various forums as some of you may have seen. Project Open Sky's is adding more wonderful new models and adding to their amazing Boeing 747 range. They have just introduced a new XML gauge based feature that eliminates the annoying tendency that multi-wheel gear trucks suffer from when taking off and landing where the gear seems to sink or float at times. It is now realistically smooth and makes for breathtaking take off and landings. Furthermore there is now a new wing flex technique using this XML gauge method which allows for the wings to flex independently! Well done to Hiroshi and team.

Saturday 28 July 2007

Been exceptionally busy with work and daily stuff so painting has not been happening for a while, but hopefully things will eventually calm down and return to normal. In the meantime I have updated the linking page and more crucially the previews pages which now have each set of liveries in their own preview pages. Hopefully when I have more time I will refine this further or redo the entire thing.

Tuesday 3 April 2007

With the release of Project Open Sky's wonderful Boeing 747SP model late last year I had to put all projects aside to do the entire South African Airways fleet which includes the various liveries from the late 1970's through to the late 1990's. These liveries start with the "Bandit" livery followed by the two "Springbok" liveries and then end with the current new colours livery. I have also painted ZS-SPC "Maluti" as she appears at the South African Airways Museum Society based at Rand Airport in Johannesburg. These liveries have been uploaded to Avsim.com and will be uploaded to FlightSim.Com and Simviation.com as well. I hope to paint a few more liveries on this magnificent plane and of course on the just released Project Open Sky's Boeing 747-1/200 V4 models.

Friday 22 December 2006

This year seems to have flown by very fast, well as least for me it has. The latest version of Microsoft Flight Simulator, FSX has been released and is catching on, albeit slowly due to its hardware requirements. Maybe with the release of Windows Vista which is due in mere weeks we will have the necessary platform to allow FSX to perform as intended. Of course this means having the latest DirectX 10 hardware. This brings me to the purpose of this update. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! Best wishes for the new year! May the year ahead be a prosperous and enjoyable one. Thank you to to all of the many wonderful freeware groups and individuals out there. Flightsim wouldn't be as enjoyable without you!!

Thursday 30 August 2006

I am pleased to say that I am about to release my second part of my Boeing 737-200 repaints which will include updates for the previously released liveries and a few more tweaks and goodies. New liveries include USAir, MetroJet, MetroJet (USAir), two old colour Air Namibia liveries, South African Airlink and SAFAIR. I have made various changes to my base textures and a new metal effect with shaped effects to suite the fuselage. The contact points have also gone through a few more tweaks to improve the overall height and stance when on the ground with typical weight. I have also configured each gear wheel with its own contact point just to add to the realism with the option to revert to the normal three point setup with the same height and stance as above. There is a new touch down effect for the six point setup and I have also replaced the existing engine smoke effect with a vertically adjusted smoke effect from David Maltby's superb BAC 1-11 range. There is also automatic wing and flap tip vortices included than can be easily installed. I am going to be painting some more 737-200 liveries, but have decided to start a new project which will take me away from the 737's mostly.

Saturday 13 May 2006

Nothing major, just updated my links page and added a few new group listings as well as corrected some information that was incorrect or out of date. As some of you may know, I am a member of Contrail-Designs which is a new group that is currently busy developing the de Havilland Dash 8 range and the Challenger CL604. I have also just recently joined Historic Jetliners Group as a member, and as with Contrail-Designs I will be mostly painting but also helping out where I can. As for my new Boeing 737-200 repaints I am making good progress and have been making some upgrades to my base textures to improve the general accuracy, just been very busy lately with real life stuff, but they will get released fairly soon hopefully. I will most likely release an update for the previously released Boeing 737-200 liveries last year which will include my latest contact points tweak and a few other goodies.

Thursday 23 December 2005

Wednesday 22 December 2005

After what seems to have been an eternity I have finally finished my Boeing 737-200 repaints which include the updated Boeing House Colours, American Airlines, Ryanair Jaguar, Air Namibia, Nationwide and the South African Airways fleet from the very oldest to the recently retired "flysaa.com" livery. I have also tweaked the contact points again to make further improvements. Hopefully I will be starting another batch of various liveries in the next few weeks and should have some screenshots early in the new year. In the mean time check out the Sneak Previews page to see the above mentioned liveries that I have released and uploaded to Avsim.com, FlightSim.Com and Simviation.com.  I will be updated my site in the coming few days - enjoy!

Monday 4 July 2005

I have released my repaint of Boeing's 737-200 House Colours to Avsim.com, FlightSim.Com and Simviation.com. As well as being busy with some other Boeing 737-200 repaints I have now added a Sneak Previews page which I will update from time to time. I have been painting various liveries including the just released Boeing House Colours, various South African Airways liveries and a few others. Please check this new previews page as I will be adding to it as I go on with these and other paints. Comments and suggestions via email are most welcome as always - enjoy!

Monday 25 April 2005

I have been meaning to paint the new South African Airways Airbus A319-131 as well as their old A320-231 in the new and old colours for quite some time. Well now I am pleased to announce that this has now been achieved. I have released my four liveries in two packages to Avsim.com, FlightSim.Com and Simviation.com. Both packages are based on iFDG's wonderful models and include their latest version 1.4 update. All of my textures are painted in high quality 32-bit non-mipmaped format and I have also created loads of new custom textures for these liveries including some photo-real tails, engine cowl and new realistic looking engine fans. I have also included my contact points tweak for all of the A32X variants. For more information see the Readme.txt included with these packages. Check the previews page - enjoy!

Friday 24 December 2004

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! May the year ahead be a prosperous and enjoyable one. And thank you to to all of the many wonderful freeware groups and individuals out there. Flightsim would not be as interesting and as much fun if it was not for your wonderful products. All the best for the new year.

Monday 20 December 2004

It has once again been a long time since my last update to the site, but real life responsibilities have been taking up most of if not all of my time. But in between work and play I have been working on a few repaints and a few weeks ago I released three repaints of South African Airways painted on Project Open Sky's wonderful Boeing 747-200 model. These repaints are all of SAA's old colours with the late 1970's "Bandit" livery of ZS-SAO "Magaliesberg" and the 1980's and 1990's "Springbok" liveries of ZS-SAN "Lebombo". I put a good deal of time into these repaints and went to great lengths to achieve as high level of detail and accuracy as possible. Some of the generic textures for engines and landing gear were redone to achieve this. I also made use of shading and dirt to add to the overall realism. I hope that you like these liveries and that they bring back pleasant memories. I uploaded these textures to Avsim.com, FlightSim.Com and Simviation.com.

Sunday 5 September 2004

A week ago I uploaded my repaint of South African Airlink ZS-OTN painted on Dreamwings new Embraer ERJ 135 which also  includes a tweak for their contact points. This corrects the issue where it appears that the main gear sinks into the ground on take off and landing as well as the noise gear sinking into the ground when braking. I have also altered the aircraft.cfg file to disable the engine reversers, as South African Airlink's fleet were not supplied with them. Check the previews page - enjoy!

Saturday 31 July 2004

It has been such a long time since my last news update, that what happens when you have a demanding job. And it does not help if you have to travel 2 hours a day to and from work! There have been so many releases since my last update, but today brings the release of Project Open Sky's new Airbus A340-200 and A340-300 birds. They are available with both virtual cockpit and non-virtual cockpit wing view models. Check Avsim.com. Recently I have released some South African Airways repaints of Kittyhawk's  new Boeing 737-800 models. Kittyhawk is a new group that Erick Cantu has started. There have been too many other releases to mention, but in the last few weeks iFDG has released another member of the A320 family, the A319 and Dreamwings have released a wonderful Embraer ERJ 135 - 145 range. FlightSimOnline have released a truly wonderful old plane, the Howard 500. There have been loads of other extremely good aircraft released by various other developers and I thank them all including the above mentioned for their continued support to the freeware community.

Friday 23 April 2004

I have uploaded my repaint of South African Airways in the old Springbok colours on SGA's new Airbus A300B4-203. Please read below for directions on where to get the necessary base pack. I will be doing a dirty version of this repaint at a later stage. Keep checking for previews.

Tuesday 9 March 2004

I have finished and uploaded my repaint of South African Airways on SGA's new Airbus A300B4-203. This new model made by Erick Cantu is available for Flight Simulator 2004. There is a lower spec model released that is compatible with Flight Sim 2002 Pro. I used this version for developing this repaint. For the latest model updates for both FS versions, go here.  I am also busy repainting SAA in the old Sprinbok colours, so keep checking for new screenshots on my previews page. There are some that I have posted on SGA's forum.

Thursday 26 February 2004

It has been a long time since I have had any news and previews for you. I have started a new job/career and have been very busy. And to add to that, I have also moved house. I would NOT recommend that to anyone. So many wonderful new planes have been released in the last six months with FS2004 ACOF dominating. There are just too many to mention, but my Links page has most of these developers listed. There are a few that are not listed and there are a few  who simply don't have a web site of their own. Let's not forget the payware guys either. I could not resist the PMDG Beechcraft 1900. They also have a truly amazing Boeing Next Generation series. But my thanks go to all the freeware developers as much as I can express it. Keep up the good work!

Thursday 1 January 2004

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! May 2004 be a wonderful and prosperous year for everyone. And may this also be another great year for the flightsim community.

Monday 10 November 2003

It has been some time since I last updated my site. I have been very busy with real world tasks and have had little time to enjoy my favourite hobby - flying and repainting aircraft. There have also been so many wonderful new add-on releases. Hopefully I will be able resume my repainting and continue to add to my livery collection. I would like to thank the Freeware developers out there. There have been so many really wonderful freeware products released in recent months with many more to come. Most of them are payware quality and in certain cases, better than payware.

Monday 27 July 2003

Last week FlightFX/SGA released their amazing new Boeing 737-3/4/500 models. For the 737-400 model I have been working on ZS-OTH repaint of Kulula.com. This has been a tricky livery to recreate, but with just the finishing touches to be done it should be uploaded early this week. Check the previews page for some screenshots. Other repaints on the cards for these new birds will be a US Air livery for both the 737-300 and 737-400 models.

FlightFX/SGA's new Boeing 737-800 has just received the winglet conversion kit which most airliners have utilized including South African Airways. I have uploaded the conversion kit for ZS-SJE to Avsim.com on Sunday. The file name to search for is "saa_zs-sje_winglet_upgrade.zip". All necessary files for the conversion are included in my upload as well as installation instructions.
